Entrepreneurial activity is the engine of economic growth and industrial change, but its rigorous examination is not part of standard courses in economic theory. In this course, we will examine major theoretical concepts of entrepreneurship (Schumpeterian innovation, risk-taking, preferences for attributes of independently run business, rent-seeking, etc.) and will take them to the data. Special emphasis will be placed on the economic function and behavior of entrepreneurs in different institutional environments. This Ph.D.-level course will be based on state-of-the-art current research in this field.
