This course explores consciousness from the perspectives of phenomenology, psychological and neuroscience theories of consciousness, mythology (as a guide to the inner journey) and some practices and ideas from Eastern philosophy and medicine. We will explore lucid dreaming (becoming aware in a dream that you are dreaming) and various types of meditation. The course involves discussion and reflection on readings from many sources, including Susan Blackmore's "Consciousness: An introduction."
