The idea of 'landscape' can be used in many ways: it can refer to a physical place, an image, or even a state of mind. This course will explore the implications of the expression of both internal and external landscapes, and how they have been used historically and socially in various cultures as metaphors for other ideas. Students will begin the semester with their own landscape note-taking in the medium of digital photography and create a body of photographic work. Students will then use this groundwork for further photographic explorations, or as inspiration for work in the medium of their home department. Mac OS, RAW file handling, Photoshop, and digital photographic printmaking will be covered, no prior photographic experience is necessary. No prerequisites.
