This blend of studio and seminar unites aspirations of the arts and humanities to urgently engage audiences over time with written and / or visual narrative. We will work independently and collaboratively to produce public and private works, from billboards to graphic novels and other pulp purees of text and image. Our sequential pictorial and poetic imaginings will take inspiration from ahistorical sympathetic magic cave painting, panoramic murals and mythological epic, troubadour song and stained glass stories for the illiterate, tapestry and tabloids, diaries and scrolls, prints, placards, posters and postcards for peasants and pilgrims, serial novellas and eye-witness illustration, caustic journalistic expos¿s and comics, to guerilla advertisements and graphic novels. Requirements: Two semesters of drawing or English, or by special permission for anyone desperate to delve into autobiographic abandon, cultural amnesia, elliptical prose, social and topical engagement, muckraking or public proclamation and manifestos.
